So i was looking the other day for a new FM transmitter for my ipod shuffle and the main problem was that there were just too many too choose from. At the minute i just use the tape deck believe it or not and i have this transformer thing than plays straight into it. Only problem is they keep breaking, though i cant really complain and they cost around $10! I did have one of these FM transmitters a few years ago actually and i have to say it was not a great success. The sound quality was so patchy, unless i had the transmitter in a really specific part of the car then the reception was just terrible. I suppose another factor is the quality of the radio in your car and i have to admit mine is not great, it can at times struggle to pick up main radio stations so i suppose i shouldn’t blame the transmitter.
Still im still wondering if i should plump for another device like the Itrip which i think is most popular or another brand as there really seems to be alot of transmitters. The price can vary quite alot too, can go anywhere from $10 to $50 so im wondering what is the real difference in these FM transmitters. It could be the output signal strength then again on the other hand it could just be the brand name, i see lots of expensive Belkin ones and i really cant tell the difference between them and the cheaper versions. If only there was some way to test drive them in the store!
So i spotted something pretty unique and even a little bit exciting over on iworld the other day. The different thing about these speakers is that that the react to the sounds that are being played though them as they change to a virtual rainbow of colors as the bass notes go up and down. I think its great that some companies are starting to come up with really unique ideas for ipod shuffle speakers that are a little out of the ordinary. I can picture these speakers hanging out of quite a few of my work colleges desks and making for quite an interesting talking point at the water cooler. Indeed im finding more and more of my geek friends buying these kinds of gadgets to impress people at the office, and whats wrong with that!
The speakers also produce a great sound that can cover a pretty wide area (up to a good sized room in my opinion). They come in at around $50 which is quite good for a set of speakers with such a unique feature. I suppose what most people will be buying these for is parties which is a great idea although you may want to buy more than one if you are looking for some serious sound coverage from your ipod. Also i they look even better in a dark room and will give any party that real disco vibe. The only downside that i have found so far is that they are charged from the mains so you cant say they are truly portable which will be more of an issue to some people than to others. Ive seen alot of speakers lately that charge from the USB which is great if you are going to be doing any kind of travelling. Still i suppose the fact that they are giving out such an impressive light show makes the fact that it needs to be plugged in make sense. If they were battery powered they probably wouldn’t last too long. So all in all i think these are a great pair of speakers for your Ipod shuffle which may be on the more expensive side of the speaker range but i would say they are worth it.
I keep seeing more and more portable speakers designed specifically for the shuffle which i suppose is a good think saying as how the shuffle is much more of a portable player than say the classic. Thats not to say that people don’t carry around the average ipod its just that the shuffle mp3 player is much more conducive to carrying about than its heavier cousins.
I think what the gear4 speakers are mainly doing is going for the picnic market or maybe even people going on vacation who don’t want to take a really expensive speaker system with them. This set retails at around $40.00 which is pretty reasonable in my opinion for the sound quality that they produce. Another great factor is that you can run it both from batteries and from the AC adaptor provided so it really has the best of both worlds!
Many people don’t realise just how powerful some speaker systems that you can plug into your ipod can be. The main thing im talking about is the volume and pitch that you can get from different systems. Samsung has a reputation for some of the loudest speakers that you can get on the market and are said to be more than adequate for any type of party that you plan on using them for.
One of the most important factors used to judge the volume of any set is the wattage and also the decibel output which should be printed clearly on the side of the box. Its a pretty important factor to consider as there would be nothing worse than a set of speakers that just don’t cut it as a proper sound system. You need to think if the set it going to be able to cover a whole room and drown out any background noise that is going to be there.
There are so many companies these days offering speakers for your ipod and other assorted accessories that it can be very hard to choose. I do think that the best bet in most cases is to go with a brand name like sony etc as they do at least have a track record when it comes to developing with apple products. Alot of people have been seduced by the many apparent bargains on ebay at the moment but you have to be aware of what you are buying before you commit. There are alot of fakes around and the main thing i would look for is a store with a good reputation.
People often dont realise that there is a whole world of extra value available just by plugging your ipod shuffle into a set of speakers. Since its inception the ipod has been mainly thought of as just a solid state drive for personal on the go music. However this is no longer the case as it is possible to broadcast all of your favourite tunes to who-ever is in ear-shot. Setting up most ipod shuffle speakers is pretty easy as it is just a plug and play operation.
The sound quality of a pair of speakers is very important since you don’t want to dampen the excellent quality already produced by the player so we recommend that you go with a recognised brand name when choosing a speaker system. A lot of people also are not aware of just how much volume these small little speakers can put out. Eg people often use them at parties and find this one little speaker can fill one of even two rooms with rich deep sounds straight from a shuffle.
So as you can see there really is no reason to hesitate when thinking about the perfect upgrade for your ipod shuffle as it really is an accessory even Steve Jobs would be proud of!
This is your number one source for everything you could want to plug your ipod shuffle into, especially speakers and other accessories. Adding ipod speakers is often a way to completely transform your shuffle. It can be ideal for partys so that you can broadcast your tunes right across the room. Since the invention of speakers for the ipod many people have been jumping at the chance to change the way the listen to the music on their shuffle and now you can too!
